Yin, Ernst picked for Solheim team; Creamer left out By Randall Mell August 6, 2017, 4:27 pm "ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – The U.S. and European Solheim Cup teams will re-engage their intensifying rivalry with some fresh new faces in the mix. American captain Juli Inkster announced Austin Ernst and rookie Angel Yin as her two picks Sunday to fill out her 12-player roster. They will join Danielle Kang as first-time Solheim Cup participants. European captain Annika Sorenstam announced LPGA rookies Madelene Sagstrom of Sweden and Emily Pedersen of the Netherlands as two of her four picks. They joined Solheim Cup veterans Anna Nordqvist of Sweden and Caroline Masson of Germany as captain’s picks. One-third of Sorenstam’s team will be playing a Solheim Cup for the first time, and they will do it in challenging conditions on foreign soil. England’s Georgia Hall and Florentyna Parker made the team as the top two qualifiers on the Ladies European Tour points list. Neither has played a Solheim Cup before. The Americans will meet Europe Aug. 18-20 at Des Moines Golf & Country Club." Link to article: www.golfchannel.com/news/golf-central-blog/yin-ernst-picked-solheim-team-creamer-left-out

Juli Inkster said in one of her interviews “ if Jessica Korda is unable to compete in the Solheim Cup due to her injury, she has made her selection of an alternate pick but will not disclose it.
Who you would pick? My choice would be Marina Alex based on her current year stats and ranked 13 in Solheim points.

It would probably be Paula Creamer...... Because of her Solheim record and latest play.
teeshot
And to add to that 3 Rookies would be too many! That's one fourth of the team!

"DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – USA Solheim Cup Captain Juli Inkster announced today that six-time USA Solheim Cup veteran Paula Creamer will replace the injured Jessica Korda at the 2017 Solheim Cup, being conducted next week in West Des Moines, Iowa." "Inkster chose Creamer as her alternate when she selected her team on Sunday night and informed the European team as required by the captain’s agreement. However, she did not publicly reveal her choice until after Korda withdrew on Monday due to a forearm injury." "This will be Creamer’s seventh Solheim Cup appearance. She has a 14-8-5 playing record, and her 16.5 points are more than any American player in Solheim Cup history except Inkster (18.5 in nine appearances), fellow 2017 teammate Cristie Kerr (17 in eight appearances) and Meg Mallon (16.5 in eight appearances)." I like Paula, That being said, She didn't deserve that last spot. jus, that was said about Michelle several times - she proved them all wrong! The Solheim is a Team and Juli knows that better than anyone who is the best player to help them retain the Solheim Cup. It is after all Juli's Pick. Three Rookies would be too many. Juli is going with her gut! teeshot.....

I disagree t-shot. of course it's Julie's team. but Stanford and presell had better stats. Friendship was the final factor in her decision . She did not have too choose a rookie. like I said, I like Paula, but lost all respect for Inkster:)

She did not have too choose a rookie. like I said, I like Paula, but lost all respect for Inkster:) It's not easy to be the captain when there are so many to pick from. Juli thought Paula was the most ready to be in the position and she didn't have anyone else in mind. An LPGA member made it clear on the Golf channel that when it comes to the Solheim Cup and match play the stats don't matter when the captain has to decide who she thinks can help the team to win. teeshot.....

We can agree to disagree:) why didn't she pick Paula with her first pick? Sorry t-shot I really don't think Paula is deserving of the pick. I hope she wins every match:) even then I would feel it was a unfair pick.
