Race to the CME Globe: 500 Points Format: 72 holes Purse: $1,800,000 72 Holes…Par: 72 Yardage: 6,383 In 2014, Honolulu native Michelle Wie shot a 5-under 67 in Saturday’s final round of the LPGA LOTTE Championship Presented by J Golf to clinch her third-career victory and first since the 2010 CN Canadian Women’s Open. The 24-year old started the day four shots behind third-round leader Angela Stanford and used six birdies and a bogey on the par 4 18th hole to snap a 79 event winless drought. Wie’s four-round total of 14-under par 274 bested Stanford by two shots. Stanford finished in solo second after carding a 1-over 73 in the final round and world No. 1 Inbee Park finished third at 11-under par. Wie returns home to defend special titleWritten By: Neal Reid For Michelle Wie, the 2014 LOTTE Championship Presented by Hershey in her native Hawaii was a turning point. It was where she ended a four-year winless drought and kick-started what would be a stellar season she won’t soon forget. She went on to win the U.S. Women’s Open, finish fourth on the money list with more than $1.9 million in earnings and fourth in the Rolex Player of the Year standings. This week, Wie returns to the site of her storybook triumph – Ko Olina Golf Club in Kapolei, Oahu – to defend her title against a stacked and hungry field. Suzann Pettersen, who won the event in a playoff over Lizette Salas in 2013, and 2012 champion Ai Miyazato will also be there, and there are a host of other challengers to Wie’s championship. World No. 3 Inbee Park, 2015 major champion Brittany Lincicome and 2015 tournament winners Cristie Kerr, Na Yeon Choi, Sei Young Kim and Hyo Joo Kim are also teeing it up in the $1.8 million event. This week’s tournament begins on Wednesday, so players will have to move their schedules and routines 24 hours ahead to adjust. Players are treated to life in paradise for a week as they battle for the winner’s share of the purse, and the golf course is nowhere near short on beautiful backdrops. The event has also lured the likes of Paula Creamer, Shanshan Feng, Hall of Famer Se Ri Pak, Morgan Pressel and Ariya and Moriya Jutanugarn to the tropical showcase that is Ko Olina. Other players to watch include Angela Stanford, last year’s runner-up, and Chella Choi and So Yeon Ryu, who finished in a tie for fifth place. Park finished third and should also be in the mix, as should Hyo Joo Kim, who took home the fourth-place check a year ago. The LOTTE Championship kicks off a three-week stretch that includes a stop in San Francisco next week, where world No. 1 Lydia Ko will have a title defense, and a trip to the heart of Texas, where reigning Rolex Player of the Year Stacy Lewis is the defending champion. That run will take the Tour to the one-third mark of the season, with 11 of 33 events complete heading into the next week off after Texas. It’s hard to believe the season will be a third of the way complete in a few short weeks, but time flies when you’re having fun. Golf Channel will provide 16 hours of coverage to make viewers jealous, but it will still be fun to watch the drama unfold. Top Storylines for the LOTTE Championship Presented by HersheyWeek of April 13, 2015 LPGA LOTTE Championship Presented by HersheyKo Olina Golf Club Kapolei, Oahu, Hawaii WIE BACK HOME AND READY TO DEFENDAfter nearly a four-year winless streak, Michelle Wie wrote her own fairytale finish to a magical week in her home state of Hawaii by winning the LOTTE Championship in 2014. “I think the highlight really was just to come back home and there really wasn’t just one moment,” Wie said following her victory last year. “From the first tee shot that I hit until the last putt that I made, the support that I felt from everyone was unbelievable. I really think a lot of times they willed the ball in. I give a lot of credit to them this week.” Wie came from four shots back by firing a 5-under 67 in Saturday’s final round to secure her third-career victory. The win sparked an impressive 2014 campaign for Wie, which included a victory at the U.S. Women’s Open, her first major championship, and 11 additional top-10 finishes. Wie will return to the Islands looking to recapture that magic as her 2015 season has been off to a rocky start while dealing with injury and illness. So far in 2015, Wie has yet to finish better than T24 in her seven events. Link to Article:www.lpga.com/news/nm15-lotte-storylines

Stats and Stuff: Wie Finds Her Spark in HawaiiWritten By: Ward Clayton Michelle Wie grew up in Hawaii, so naturally she should feel comfortable in her home state. That was accentuated last year when Wie rallied from four strokes behind to win the LPGA Lotte Championship for her first professional victory in Hawaii. The course is located about 30 minutes west of her childhood home in Honolulu. The victory last year was instrumental in Wie having her best season on the LPGA, highlighted by a victory in the U.S. Women’s Open at Pinehurst No. 2, her first major championship win. Wie first competed as an amateur in a LPGA event at the 2002 LPGA Takefuji Classic when she became the youngest player to Monday qualify for a LPGA event at age 12 years, 4 months, 14 days. In five LPGA starts in Hawaii from 2002-2009, she recorded two runner-up finishes – as a 15-year-old at the 2005 SBS Open at Turtle Bay, two behind winner Jennifer Rosales, and the 2009 SBS Open at Turtle Bay, three behind winner Angela Stanford. Additionally, as a 16-year old, Wie shot a final-round 66 at the 2006 Fields Open in Hawaii – played at this week’s site, Ko Olina – to finish third, one stroke out of a playoff. She also made four of her eight career sponsor exemption starts on the PGA Tour at the Sony Open in Hawaii at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu. Wie has won four times on the LPGA, at the 2009 Lorena Ochoa Invitational, the 2010 CN Canadian Women’s Open, the 2014 LPGA Lotte Championship and the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open. Here’s a look at Wie’s professional history in tournaments in Hawaii: Link to Article:www.lpga.com/news/nm15-stats-and-stuff-0414

Michelle Wie ready to defend LOTTE Championship2015 LOTTE Championship Presented by Hershey Pre-Tournament NotesWritten By: LPGA Communications The Island of Oahu will say Aloha to the LPGA Tour for the fourth time this week at the LOTTE Championship Presented by HERSHEY. “Pretty obvious I love coming back home,” said defending champion and native Hawaiian Michelle Wie. “I look forward to this event all year. I get to come back home after the season is done, and then I get to go back to Florida and start training and start my year up. I look forward to April.“ Other players echoed Wie’s statements about loving to be back on the Islands, including Paula Creamer and Inbee Park. “It’s always a fun event for everybody,” said Creamer. “ People bring their families and stay in condos. It’s nice to be able to able to play different types of golf courses from the main land that we play. It’s a little bit different out here, so it’s fun. The sponsor does a great job of hosting us, and all the fans that come out are very supportive of the women’s golf.” “I feel like we’re on holiday and playing golf at the same time,” Park said. “It’s a great place and a great tournament. I had good results last couple years, and hopefully I have another good one this year.” Time FliesLast season at the LOTTE Championship Presented by Hershey Michelle Wie was able to take home the title in front of her home state fans and make a dream come true. “It really is crazy how time flies. Seems like yesterday,” Wie explained. “But last year really a dream did come true for me. Growing up here playing a lot of junior tournaments, Hawaii tournaments, always been my dream to win at home in front of my friends and family and just people that have been rooting for me since I was really young. So it was really cool to do that last year. It’s always fun to defend, so I’m happy to be back. Just trying to take it easy and having fun.“ Wie will be taking a simple approach into her quest to repeat. “I think the key for me is just not to look too far into the future and not put too much pressure on myself.” Quote of the Day“Hawaii will always be forever and always my home no matter where I live. You know the saying, you can take the island out of the girl, but you can never take the island out of the girl. It’s definitely true.” -Michelle Wie on returning to Hawaii Link to Article:www.lpga.com/news/2015-lotte-championship-pre-tournament-notes
