The golf gods were smiling down on Michelle - had to be considering she couldn't contend and play anymore Majors! What a sweet end to the tournament! And more to come for Michelle cause she should be ready for the CME by the time it rolls around.

Rolex ANNIKA Major Award Came Down to the WireMichelle Wie of USA is presented with the Rolex Annika MAjor Award by golfing legend Annika Sorenstram of Sweden after the final round of The Evian Championship at the Evian Resort Golf Club on September 14, 2014 in Evian-les-Bains, France September 15 2014, Kelly Theiser The inaugural Rolex ANNIKA Major Award came down to the wire at The Evian Championship and ultimately it was a first-time major award winner who took home the honor of being named the year’s best performer in the majors. There were a number of players vying for first-ever Rolex ANNIKA Major Award (RAMA) on Sunday at The Evian Championship, along with the final major title of the season. However, it was a player who was forced to sit back and watch due to an injury that ended up taking home the big prize. U.S. Women’s Open champion Michelle Wie withdrew during the first round of play last week with a lingering right hand injury but it didn’t prevent her from walking away with the first-ever RAMA trophy. Thanks to her victory at Pinehurst and a runner-up finish at the U.S. Women’s Open, Wie finished with 84 points and managed to stave off Wegmans LPGA Championship winner Inbee Park, who finished with 76 points. “It's awesome just to be a part of history to win the first inaugural Rolex Annika Major Award,” Wie said after receiving her award during a ceremony on the 18th green on Sunday. “I remember hearing that we were going to have this award last year, and I kind of set that goal for this year. That was one of the biggest goals that I had this year. I really wanted to win it. “I tried really hard at all the majors. Unfortunately only played couple, but I worked really hard to get this award. I am extremely proud of myself.” Park, who entered Sunday’s final round sitting 10 points back of Wie, needed at least a fifth place finish in order to have an opportunity to pass Wie. But while Park earned another top-10 finish in a major, she wasn’t able to crack the top five and take home the prize. She finished T10 and earned just two points. Kraft Nabisco champion Lexi Thompson, who was T10 at The Evian Championship along with Park, was third in the point standings with 70 points while first-time major winners Mo Martin and Hyo Joo Kim finished in a tie for fourth with 60 points. For Wie the moment of being named the Rolex ANNIKA Award winner capped off what was a memorable start to the majors season for her. While the finish was a little disappointing – she missed the cut at the RICOH Women’s British Open and was unable to compete at the final two majors due to the injury – she walked away this year with her first major championship. And for the 24-year-old that made this year of majors a pretty amazing one. “It will never get old,” Wie said of hearing the words major champion attached with her name. “Also seems a little bit surreal, too. When you want something so much, even with this Rolex Annika Major Award, it's just when you want something so bad and it actually happens, it's a very surreal moment.” Link to Article:www.lpga.com/golf/news/2014/9/rama-came-down-to-the-wire.aspx
