Just noticed that the tee times are set and it looks as though they are pairing the groups in the reverse order of when they qualified.
The final group consists of Yani Tseng, Karrie Webb and Michelle Wie, and they tee off at 10:50 a.m.
I don't see Juli Inkster listed so I assume she decided not to play with the injured elbow. Smart move.

Hi ya folks...I may seem a "little BIASED"...but I happen to like Wiesy's chances in this event...for one thing, I look at her Ball striking and her "CALM DEMEANOR"...she didn't have her "A" game, but yet she was in the top eschelon at the last tournament I will admit that her "Putting" has to improve...but although she did miss a few Makeable Birdie chances...at least "SHE CREATED THESE CHANCES"....Wiesy is NOT a great putter, but she can hold her own against most of the LPGA players as far as her "tee to green" game goes...Wiesy is definately "ONE OF THE BEST"....this is a FACT ( in my Wie Book of Facts) anyway...I look to see her having a GREAT tournament...in fact, I will go on a proverbial LIMB....Wiesy will either WIN or be in the TOP FIVE ....YEP!!! anyway...all of you have a great day...see ya!!

Well, it's Michelle's last chance to win on the LPGA tour. Hopefully she can. She had a good tournament, a top 10 in the last tournament so that's a good sign that her game is in pretty good shape.

I was at Grand Cypress today and followed Michelle in the pro am.
These greens are going to be a challenge for her. They are very undulating with loads of humps and dips. Hitting the shot to the green to the 'right' place is going to be paramount.
Not to sound negative, but I worry about MW's putting this week. It will be exposed big time. I noticed she's changed her style a bit...putting long ones with a more traditional (hands together) style with the belly putter, and using that split hand claw grip thingee for shorter putts.
I'm not going for tomorrow's first round, but will be back at Grand Cypress on Friday. Will report in then. Go Wiesy!

Last post from Lojo, not the links course, means that my predictions for the all the rounds might have been too optimistic, not going to change though, got to have faith and Michelle had better pick one putter grip and stick with it...the claw seems to be the more reliable option.

Sorry I wasn't able to report after Friday and Saturday's rounds. The place I was staying had issues with their WiFi connections. Grrrr.
Anyway, having followed Michelle at Grand Cypress....I have one thing to say, and I'll repeat it.
Putting...Putting....PUTTING!!! It's so frustrating to see her hit great shots and not get it in the hole for birdies, or par saves. Sigh.
I know this could probably be said of other players, but if she'd made all the putts she should have made, she would have been right at the top...seriously. Today's back nine was an example. She had a great round going until she started missing a coupla putts for birdie...and then for par. And then the disaster on #17...missing the bogey putt!! I thought I was gonna tear my hair out!!
OK, yes...she hit a few loose shots here and there, but that's golf and those things are to be expected. But, generally, her ball striking was quite good. She did hit some shots to areas on the greens which forced long putts, but so did everyone on this course. It was not easy to get the ball close on quite a few holes. Saturday's wind didn't help that either.
Anyway....I do hope she can work on her putting (and maybe even get rid of the weird dual purpose putting grip with the belly putter). Very frustrating. You could see it in her face and it is certainly frustrating for her fans!
By the way, Wie was coughing a lot on Saturday. I was going to ask Bo about it, but decided against that. Maybe it was allergies... Jimin Kang was wearing a mask over her mouth and nose on Saturday while playing.
Michelle deserves a nice break now, getting back to school and relaxing and enjoying the holidays.

Hello Wie Nation: Lojo…thank you for your live report on Michelle… Lojo, I’m wondering, if by chance if you noticed what Michelle was doing while waiting on the tee for her drive, and on the fairway for her approach shots during a log jam…Was she fidgety? Was she nervous?…Did she seem impatient? Any observations or thoughts about her demeanor while she waited during a log jam… Also, I’m wondering, if by chance if you noticed if Michelle was given arm and hand signals after a wayward tee or approach shot… Was she talking to herself or her caddie after a wayward shot? Any observations or thoughts about her demeanor after a wayward shot? Again, thank you for your live report on Michelle… Got to love wie golf bobawiefan

Thanks for the great report, LoJo! ;D I believe they said on the broadcast at one point that she led the tournament in greens hit...which really puts the putting issues in perspective...she's giving herself chances... ...let me ask this... ...is this going to be an ongoing issue...yes, she has the off-season to work on putting...but it seems to me that all the different putting techniques she's been trying tell me that it's mental...she's not going for it, so to speak...there's no conviction in her stroke...she's hitting it and kinda hoping it goes in... ...so if that's true...and maybe it is and maybe it isn't...does there need to be a new voice to come in and help with putting...maybe not even a putting "guru" but a former player or someone like that...or another current player she's willing to get advice from...just like Tiger took advice from Steve Stricker during President's Cup...

Few loose thoughts, now that the LPGA season is over, and looking at 2012. First and foremost in my mind is how talented Michelle truly is, to be is the top 20 Rolex rankings, while going full time to college, having a travel schedule that would challenge a CEO, more time sensitive requirements from sponsors, than anybody else, and, as most everybody would agree, at least for now, a putting capability that does not match the rest of her game. Michelle seems to be remarkably efficient at handling distractions, case in point; during the last two weeks she has been away from Stanford, for two tournaments, with T9 and T6 results, while needing to do remote studying. She had to be disappointed at not being able to attend the two most important Stanford football games… again this weekend she will be away for the Los Angeles KIA auto show, probably missing the last game against Notre Dame. This year I went to two California tournaments, the Kia at industry Hill and the Kraft Nabisco in Palm Desert, she finished well, with performances similar to the last two tournaments, she could have won handily with better putting, the issue is always the same, she struggles with speed and a as consequence limits the damage by being overly cautious, simply stated she is not releasing the putter, she rolls the ball well and her lines are typically excellent. In my opinion this can only be addressed with more competitive rounds, more practice, different putters or grips are not likely to help and a fuller schedule is not in available from the LPGA. However I believe that following graduation in April, Michelle will be able address this issue squarely, after moving to Florida and residing in a golf community, I would expect that for any week that she is not competing at a tournament, she will play 3-4 very competitive rounds with three other very talented males scratch golfers. That should help her become more confident and aggressive with her putter…under conditions that are closer to tournaments pressure. The superior ball striking performance at the CME tournament, bodes very well for 2012, Michelle is now hitting fades with most of her clubs, a major change from earlier this year, when she hit mostly draws, her miss-hits are now to the right, with much better ball control, this is a work in progress and will pay big time next year when she has the correct distances dialed-in, that shot shape was very much on display at the Solheim cup, with her wedges. Fading the ball was good enough, for Hogan, Nicklaus and Woods, so Michelle is on a good track here.
Forecast for next year, six wins with two majors.

Any observations or thoughts about her demeanor while she waited during a log jam… No, Michelle wasn't fidgety at all. She conversed with her fellow competitor if waiting on the tee...laughing and talking about who knows what. She'd talk to her caddie and was generally in a good mood. Same thing in the fairway, though not talking to the other player, she would talk w/ the caddie. No impatience or nervousness. She was fine. When it was time to hit, she'd take some practice swings and confirm with the caddie what shot/club she was going to hit and the distance, etc. All very normal and upbeat...confident. Also, I’m wondering, if by chance if you noticed if Michelle was given arm and hand signals after a wayward tee or approach shot… Was she talking to herself or her caddie after a wayward shot? Any observations or thoughts about her demeanor after a wayward shot? She did some normal frustration type arm gestures or "leaning" body language on wayward shots. A few times she may have shown a bit more frustration like banging her club down, but really, her demeanor was fine and quite normal...as happens in any round of golf (not every shot is perfect!). She and her caddie would talk about things after her shots...good or bad.
She did show a lot of frustration in her face and her slumping shoulders after missing those quite makeable putts, though. However, she shook things off quickly by the time she got to the next tee.
And, that's a good thing I see in Wie. She doesn't dwell on bad stuff. She had a horribly disappointing front nine on Friday....40 ...with missed putts, etc. But, then turned around and had a spectacular 33 on the back nine. That was very good to watch!
