Bob, if you want to fix up something special since you are good at that, what do you think? A different Stat? Michelle's stats are pointing to Number 1! Let's talk, who else is excited about that besides me???
Will she overtake Stacy for number 1 with a win at the US Women's Open?
Is that too soon? Is Stacy worried? How many wins would it take? Should we have a contest? Michelle wants to be number 1, she's heading that way.

Bob, I have no idea how it works either. Anyone else here know? All I know is if you win a tournament or finish second or third place you go up!!!

Hi ya folks....here is what I know about the Rolex Rankings...it is based on a 24 month span with the newer months weighing more than those at the end of the 24 month cycle

think of it as a conveyor belt that measures 24 month performance...Ice is put on the belt, with the Ice representing a player's performance...the Ice is big as it gets put on the belt (the beginning of the 24 month cycle)...but it gets smaller (due to melting) as it reaches the end of it's 24 month cycle...the total weight of the Ice on the belt represents the player's Rolex Ranking

the biggest problem in the Rolex Ranking is the way points are valued...the LPGA, LET, KLPGA , JLPGA, etc are all included...the strength of the different associations are NOT valued correctly...the JLPGA are rated way too high, thus you will find a lot of JLPGA rated very high in the Rolex....and as they just play among themselves mainly, they get points for the Rolex without their having to play against the top 20 or so in the rankings every week...if you play the higher ranked players every week, then you have a chance to gain a lot of VALUE POINTS....this is why the LPGA has almost every week the majority of the top 50 in the rankings...especially since almost all of the top players are in the LPGA....

anyway, the above is just my personal opinion about the Rolex....the Rolex Ranking IS NEEDED in women's golf...the Tournaments need some basis for their entry list otherwise there would be mass confusion and unfairness...as the years keeps on going on, EVENTUALLY things balance out in terms of player's points and ranking...for now, this is the best system around

Michelle had two big jumps in Rankings…
Michelle, by coming in 2nd at the Major, (Kraft Nabisco), picked up 14 spots in the Rankings and she picked up 58.68 points….
Michelle, by winning a regular tournament, (LOTTE), picked up 10 spots in the Rankings and she picked up 44. 95 points…
Michelle, by coming in T3 at a regular tournament, (North Texas Shootout), picked up 1 spot in the rankings and she picked up 15.85 points
Michelle, by coming in T3 at a regular tournament, (Mobile Bay), picked up 2 spots in the rankings and she picked up 17.52 points…

Does anyone remember when the ROLEX first started for the women that Michelle was either number 1 or at the very top. That was because she had played very few tournaments but she had all those top scores in the majors. That is the way the ROLEX works. It upset a lot of people!
But it was very exciting for Big Wiesy fans!
And now we see the same thing happening with Lydia Ko. She has played very few tournaments but won some or scored high and as a result she's number 3 in the world.

Ok, Rolex is updated and Cristie Kerr took over 10th place and Michelle is now 11th. I was wondering what would happen with Cristie in 2nd Place and Michelle in sixth.
Cristie has 4.94
Michelle has 4.86
Cristie is ahead of Michelle by .08 if that is the way the point system works. Maybe we'll learn more about the Rolex with Michelle climbing to the top!

2006 started with the PGA Tour Sony Open at her home course, the Waialae Country Club, Hawaii where she again missed the cut, this time by four strokes. In the initial Rolex World Golf Rankings in February, 2006, Wie was placed third, behind Annika Sörenstam and Paula Creamer. How are the rankings determined?
The Rolex Rankings share the established men's world rankings philosophy of awarding points based on the field strength and evaluate a player's performance over a rolling two-year period weighted in favor of the current year with even more importance placed on the most recent 13 weeks. Points are reduced in 91 equal decrements following week 13 for the remaining 91 weeks of the two-year Rolex Ranking period.
