Chie started her final round at 3-under, 3 shots behind Natsu Nagai. Birdies on 2, 6, 9 and 12, along with no bogeys, propelled Chie into first place at 7-under. But she was not alone. Yukari Baba, who won the 2011 Japan Women’s Open a few weeks ago, also was sitting at 7-under following a final round 2-under 70. After both players parred the opening playoff hole, Chie sank a 6 foot putt for birdie on the 2nd hole for the win. In addition to being her 10th career victory, it is also her third JLPGA triumph of the year. Chie takes home 12.6 million yen (around 116,000 USD) for first place. She trails JLPGA Money List leader Sun-Ju Ahn of Korea by 32.7 million yen (around 431,000 USD) with 4 regular events remaining.
