Do any of you watch The X Factor on TV?........Do any of you know what The X Factor means?..........Simon Cowell, who started The X Factor on TV in the UK.........does not really have a distinct definition........he only says that the winner of his competition here will HAVE IT.........and the others will not.......or at least not as much as his winner will..........he says it is more than ability.........or having a wonderful voice......... or the ability to light up the stage when you are performing.......it is a combination of ALL of that..........sure I am going a long way to make my point...........but now I will say it!..........Michelle Wie has MORE of "The X Factor" talent than any other player in the LPGA!........
So if Michelle has more X Factor points than any other current player.........and I say she HAS.......Can she LEAD the LPGA to the Promised Land?.......Can she help to bring back LPGA Tournaments to THE UNITED STATES?.........a few days ago I was watching THE WORLD SERIES on prime-time TV........and there was Michelle's McDonald's ad where she gets a Monolopy-game winner in her golf cart........do you know how much those ads cost during the World Series?........well, it is NOT as much as a Super Bowl ad costs.........because it is only one game..........and the WS can go from 4 to 7 games.........but it DOES cost considerably MORE than when it is shown on regular prime-time TV shows..........watching that ad, of course, made me start to think about THE X FACTOR..........AND Michelle Wie!..........sure we can talk about who else would have some X Factor points........The Pink Panther would probably be in 2nd place..........but then there would be a big drop to a 3rd-place contender........and just winning tournaments.........would NOT be a big factor..........The X Factor is WAY beyond winning tournaments...........it is about projecting yourself...........and your image..........to a media audience.........that will recognize you when they see you on TV..........and in newspaper and magazine photos and stories........I am glad I choose this site to break this post...........at least I know that this site is ONLY for Michelle Wie FANS!.........

Michelle definitely have the IT factor or X factor as you said ever since she was young. I mean there were many other young phenoms around the same time as Michelle, like Paula, Morgan, etc...but they never got the type of hype or buzz like Michelle did. TV ratings were higher when Michelle was in contention. During the time Michelle was playing at her best in 2004-2006, it seemed to me the LPGA was at it's most successful in terms of having lots of tournaments in the US and overseas. I mean others helped of course like Annika and Lorena, but I believe having a player like Michelle, who generated so much buzz also contributed to that success.
She attracted a lot of fans and later also a lot of haters and both groups continue to follow her golf exploits and argue and discuss them. She doesn't get as much buzz lately, although people still talk a lot about her, but if she was contention more often and win more, I think she will again create as much buzz as she did in the past and this would only be beneficial for the LPGA. I'd love to see her win more and be in contention more often in the next year.

How much does she have to win to push the X Factor? I don't think she has to be #1 (although I would love to see that)...let's say...consistently top 5 each year? When she plays well...they pop champagne in Daytona Beach... ;D
...let's be honest...what would happen if Michelle won the CME Titleholders? Mainstream sports outlets would pay attention to the LPGA for at least a week! She is the IT girl...if she were in the lead going into the final round, I would expect ratings to rise...
...but what would really, really help the LPGA is the combination of Wiesy playing well and a rivalry...Wie vs (fill in the blank)...you name the player...
...and although off topic, she is multi-talented...I think she is becoming more and more comfortable delivering lines in front of the camera...I could see her in movies or television...and I think she is a talented artist...if she devoted time to that, I think she could do a gallery show...

Top 5 each year would do it bkb......and don't forget......2012 will be her first year as a full-time LPGA player.....I expect her to be much-improved next season.......If Michelle Wins the Titleholders (and she CAN do it)......that would push her over the top in the X Factor category.......well right now the rivalry would have to be Yani.......but down the road it could be Wiesy vs. The Pink Panther......the media would go crazy for that one....... she is getting more comfortable in her media interviews.......and her talent in other areas......off the course.......is growing by leaps and bounds.......did you know she even makes outfits for Lola?.........the movies and TV possibilities are endless.......but I think she will wait awhile to even think of those.......remember she told the media that she wants to WIN LOTS of tournaments after she graduates in March.........

The only thing I wish I could undo or rewrite is the idea that Michelle is a saviour of the tour...it's a function of her X-factor and the LPGA being at a low point in fighting for the attention of sports fans in a crowded field of choices...I hate to put so much pressure on anybody ...any one person...to lift the LPGA as much as Michelle has been spoken of lifting it...that's part of the reason I think a rivalry is better than one player being far away the best...unless that player is historically great, like Annika...actually, maybe even better than Michelle being part of a great LPGA rivalry a la Annika vs Karrie...maybe if Michelle was at the forefront of a group of US dominance...
...how great would the tour do in the States if say, there was a year where Michelle, Paula, Cristie, Lexi and Morgan all won at least 2 events including at least 2 Majors? That would be huge...and I think that's a real possibility...

I also don't like the idea that Michelle is the savior of the LPGA, however as I said if she plays very well, meaning being in contention in most events and winning some of them, I think she can be a major factor to getting more people watching and also more sponsors coming forward to sponsor tournaments. This year we didn't see Michelle very much during the weekend and that's not good. I noticed that the galleries this year were abysmal at many tournaments, especially in the US. I think it would be great if Michelle can get to number 1, however it's going to take a lot to achieve this, so many players are playing well especially Yani. Her focus will need to be 100% on golf. I believe she's ready to dedicate this time and effort after she graduate next year and I'm hoping she doesn't get discourage if the wins don't materialize immediately, but keep at it. If Michelle can be in contention more often, I think anyone else who's playing well consistently will be looked upon as her rival. Of course some exciting rivals would be Yani, Paula, Lexi or even another Hawaiian golfer.

Hello all. I do believe that Michelle has what you could consider as an X-factor, but I do not think that just having IT will mean a lot down the road if she does not start to play better and win more tournaments. As it has been said, she does not need to be number one, but she needs to be In the conversation on sundays more consistently.
I confess that I do not follow the players (even Michelle) outside of the golf course. At the end of the day I watch regardless of who is at the top of the leaderboard, but I do have my favorites, and Michelle is one of them.
Finishing school in 2012 will create both opportunities and challenges for her. Hopefully she will be able to improve her game.

Michelle doesn't have to win to be in the conversation, but -- as pointed out -- she does have to be in contention. Lately, that has not been the case and she had a disappointing Solheim, unlike last year where the Solheim success shot her way up the charts. Who knows what this year will bring....better putting I hope!! I don't think we'll necessarily see much difference once she's 'done' with University. She'll have more time for practice....yes...but will it translate to on the course improvement? I got an advertisement in the mail for the Titleholders at Grand Cypress in Nov. The photos on the glossy advert were Creamer, Wie and Pettersen. No Yani...no Na Yeon Choi. Says a lot doesn't it?

I think that is very unfortunate. Definitely Yani should be on it, but it shows how much that the Asian golfers are not promoted.

That is surprising to me...ok, NYC maybe not on there...I would put her on, but I understand the reasons they wouldn't...but no Yani? With the kind of year she's having? I am not surprised to see Michelle on the promo...she has the X Factor...no question about it...lots of people want to see her play...in fact, I'm kinda bummed I started this board at a time when Michelle is off for a month...and even when she comes back it's just for a few events and then the off-season...
