It's more "kilts" and not skirts. I had a photo somewhere of it. There was a definite "Scottish" look to the tourney with men wearing one color and style kilt and women wearing short kilt type skirts....all with traditional Scottish tartans.
Frankly, it was kinda weird. I dunno....seeing all those Asians in kilts was a bit weird. But...whatever.

Funny, I never noticed that Yani rarely wears skirts during tournament play, but now that you said Yani will have to wear a skirt for this tournament, it just hit me that she doesn't. LOL

The tournament will be 54-holes over three days with a purse of around $496,000 USD.

from my blog: So Yeon Ryu, Paula Creamer Finish On Top Of Swinging Skirts Skins Game Fairways and ForehandsThe 2011 Swinging Skirts kicked off with an 18-hole Skins Game featuring host Yani Tseng along with Stacy Lewis, So Yeon Ryu and Paula Creamer. With $100,000 USD up for grabs (half going to charity), it was the last two US Women’s Open champions, So Yeon Ryu (2011) and Paula Creamer (2010), finishing on top with $37,000 each. 2011 Kraft Nabisco Championship winner Stacy Lewis won $21,000, while world #1 Yani Tseng won $5,000, although she didn’t win a hole. While skirts/kilts are the theme of these events, the rainy weather soon forced the competitors into more weather appropriate gear. For example, So Yeon Ryu started out in a tartan skirt but soon had to don her rain gear. Yani didn’t wear a skirt at all. “I didn’t prepare any skirts because I’m too shy. I’m afraid I won’t do well with a skirt on.” -Yani TsengThe 54-hole 80-plus competitors event will follow the next three days. Expect Yani Tseng to be near or at the top of the leaderboard in that event. She had a sense of humor about the Skins Game. “Today I thought it would be nice to take at least one hole, but I failed. In the end, I could have ended up with nothing if they hadn’t shared the prize money with me.” – Yani TsengSo Yeon RyuPaula Creamer

More pics on my blog: Swinging Skirts Pro-Am and Welcome Reception; Paula Creamer Arrival Fairways and ForehandsThe players competing in the Swinging Skirts event in Taiwan took time out to get decked out at the tournament reception. All the ladies looked terrific. Also, here are some photos from the pro-am as well. In the video, Paula Creamer arrives for the event. The coolest part, besides the fans greeting her at the airport like a hero, was the Mercedes that picked her up with a Pink Panther painted across the hood! So Yeon RyuPaula Creamer

from my blog: Too Cold For Skirts On First Day Of Swinging Skirts Golf Event In Taiwan Fairways and ForehandsPlayers like Paula Creamer and Maria Verchenova are well-known not only for their games, but their stylish dress on course. But even with the theme of skirts at the 2011 Swinging Skirts TLPGA event, the weather is keeping all the players well bundled up. Na Yeon Choi did surprise many with a stunning dress at the event reception, but she, like Yani Tseng, are not quite prepared to wear a skirt on course even if the weather clears. Look for Paula, Maria and others to go to the skirts if possible.

more videos and pics on my blog: Yani Tseng Grabs Lead After 2nd Round Of 2011 Swinging Skirts; Amy Yang One Shot Back Fairways and ForehandsStop me if you’ve heard this before, but going into the final round of a golf tournament in 2011 world #1 Yani Tseng is on top of the leaderboard! It’s been a joy watching what Yani has done this year. The roll continues as she fired a 2-under 70 in the 2nd round of the 2011 Swinging Skirts to take sole possession of 1st place at 2-under overall. On a blustery day that challenged the best players in the world, only Yani and Amy Yang were under par. Yang trails Yani by 1 shot at 1-under.

more videos and pics on my blog: Yani Tseng Dominates Again, Winning 2011 Swinging Skirts Fairways and ForehandsIs there any doubt who the Female Athlete of the Year is? Anybody who doesn’t vote for Yani Tseng (and Novak Djokovic on the Male side) really needs to have their expert credentials questioned. Continuing a year for the ages, Yani not only won the 2011 Swinging Skirts, she left the field behind in the final round when it counted most. Her 6-under overall winning score was the only final scorecard under par, good enough for a 7 shot win over Jiyai Shin and 2011 US Women’s Open champion So Yeon Ryu. Some might question this event as an invitational or glorified exhibition, but there was real money on the line and very notable competition in the likes of Suzann Pettersen, Na Yeon Choi, Jiyai Shin, Cristie Kerr, Paula Creamer and Stacy Lewis, among others. They all had their shot to win this, and they all finished looking up at Yani on top. Also, this marks the second time this year that strong foreign competition came to Taiwan to challenge Yani on her home soil, with the weight of her country’s expectations on her shoulders. Both times, not only did she win, she did so by emphatically separating herself from the rest of the field. 2011 has no doubt been the Year of Yani. Will anybody step up to challenge her in 2012?
