Hello Wie Nation:
Hello Teeshot:
Thanks for the pictures bob!
The picture Michelle is using on her twitter page is from The Solheim Cup.
Right now Michelle is listed at #10 for the Solheim Team by Rolex Rating 49, with two captain picks yet to be decided.
There has been shuffling around with names between Solheim Points & Rolex Ratings for a few weeks.
The Solheim picks are set as of the Ricoh tournament. I don't know if more changes are to come with Rolex.
I was trying to remember if the 2011 Team was decided by the Ricoh Tournament last time and then we saw their pictures with their Solheim golf bags. Does anyone else remember when all the team is to be decided?
I found this:PARKER, Colo., September 13, 2012 - A major title won't be the only thing up for grabs this week at the RICOH Women's British Open for U.S.-born LPGA Tour players. Players will also earn double points for the 2013 Solheim Cup this week.
The LPGA Tour's final major of the year, the $2.75 million RICOH Women's British Open will be held September 13-16 at Royal Liverpool Golf Club. Reigning Rolex Player of the Year and world No. 1 Yani Tseng of Taiwan is the defending champion.
Players realize the importance of earning Solheim Cup points in non-Solheim years, especially at major championships.
"After my experience in 2005 - I made the team in 2003 and missed it in 2005 - I realized that you don't want to be behind the eight ball going into a Solheim year," said four-time U.S. Solheim Cup Team member Angela Stanford. "So, I'm always thinking about it."
Cristie Kerr can relate.
“You've got to get it done and make the team," said Kerr, who stands third in the points standings. "You can't wait to be picked. I had a chance to be picked once and wasn't. You've got to shore up your spot, no matter who you are."
Solheim Cup points were already doubled at the three prior LPGA Tour major championships this season, so players had a chance to make big jumps in one week by excelling at the majors. The same points system will apply in 2013, but players will earn one-and-a-half times as many points during the Solheim Cup year.
Players earn points for top-20 finishes at official LPGA Tour events, and only U.S.-born players are eligible. U.S. players began earning points for the 2013 Solheim Cup at the 2011 CN Canadian Women's Open.
The top eight players in the U.S. Solheim Cup standings at the yet-to-be-determined cutoff date in 2013 will automatically qualify for the team, two more will qualify based on their position in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings, and Captain Meg Mallon will select the final two team members.
And this:2013 RICOH Women's British Open to be Cutoff for 2013 Solheim Cup PointsPARKER, Colo., Aug. 28, 2012 – The 2013 RICOH Women’s British Open at the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland, will be the final chance for American and European players to earn points for the 2013 Solheim Cup, as two years of battling for a dream will come true for 24 of the world’s best golfers.
The fourth of five majors in the LPGA’s 2013 season, the RICOH Women’s British Open, is slated for Aug. 1-4 and will serve as the cutoff for players to earn Solheim Cup points. U.S. Captain Meg Mallon and European Captain Liselotte Neumann will be on-hand in Scotland to announce their captain’s picks at the conclusion of the 72-hole tournament once the points are finalized.
St. Andrews will be a fitting location for the finalization of both 12-member teams that will converge on Colorado Golf Club Aug. 13-18 for the 13th staging of the Solheim Cup. St. Andrews has a rich British Open Championship history and was the site of LPGA Tour and World Golf Hall of Famer Lorena Ochoa’s first major triumph in 2007.
“It’s one of my favorite places to play on the planet,” Mallon said of St. Andrews. “Seeing the tournament finish there and having the teams finalized there will be very special. It’s going to be an intense hour or so around the finish of the tournament.”
Neumann is equally thrilled to have such a prestigious site to announce her European team.
“It is great and very fitting that I will announce the European Solheim Cup Team at St. Andrews, the Home of Golf, after the completion of the Ricoh Women’s British Open,” Neumann said.
Players earn points for top-20 finishes at official LPGA Tour events, and only U.S.-born players are eligible for the U.S. team. U.S. players began earning points for the 2013 Solheim Cup at the 2011 CN Canadian Women’s Open, and all players will earn 1.5 times the points in 2013, with points doubled at majors.
The top eight players in the U.S. Solheim Cup standings will automatically qualify for the team, two more will qualify based on their position in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, and Mallon will select the final two team members. On the European side, points have been available since the 2011 Lacoste Ladies Open de France. Four players will qualify through the European Solheim Cup points, four more through their Rolex ranking and the final four will be captain’s picks.
