Original Championship Course
In July 2012, the U.S. Women’s Open returns to Blackwolf Run. And it promises to be unforgettable. One of Pete Dye’s crowning achievements, Blackwolf Run is a blend of beauty and peril — combining cozy meadows and rolling streams with deep valleys and charging ravines.
Original Championship Course
Typically comprised of two 18-hole courses (River and Meadow Valleys) Blackwolf Run will return to its original single-course configuration — but only for the 2012 U.S. Women’s Open. During the championship, the players will compete on the Original Championship Course — the same one that made Blackwolf Run famous more than 20 years ago.
Featuring new grasses, new sand and contouring in all the bunkers and renovated greens, the Original Championship Course comprises holes 10-18 of the Meadow Valleys course and holes 1-4 and 14-18 of the River course.
It’s a course unlike any in America. The perfect stage for one of golf’s greatest majors.

Hole Descriptions
Hole 1...Par 4...348 yds.
Favor the middle to left side of the fairway from the tee to open up your approach to the green. The approach shot requires an additional 1-2 clubs into this elevated green.

www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/380/457/hole1_lg.jpg [/img]
Hole 2...Par 5...522 yds.
Best drive is at the distant mound right. Your second shot is to a very narrow lay-up area. A slight uphill approach and sloping-away green requires a full shot to hold the green.
www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/152/187/ws_bd_mv_hole11_02.jpg [/img]
Hole 3...Par 4...455 yds…
Hit a driver off the tee, aiming for the bunkering to the right for safety. Your second shot will require a mid to long iron. Favor the right side of the green to avoid the sharp drop-off to Weeden’s Creek on the left.

www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/465/348/bwr_bd_mv_hole12_lg.jpg [/img]
Hole 4...Par 4...341 yds.
Hit a fairway metal straight out over Weeden’s Creek. This will leave you a short iron to an extremely elevated plateau where the green sits.

www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/725/459/ws_bd_mv_hole13_01.jpg [/img]
Hole 5...Par 4...409 yds.
Play a fairway metal off the tee and favor the right center for maximum distance. The peninsular green, protected by Weeden’s Creek and bunkers, sits 40 feet below you.

www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/911/498/bwr_bd_mv_hole14_lg.jpg [/img]
Hole 6...Par 3...200 yds.
This par 3 offers a huge green but anything short or left will drop into the Weeden’s Creek Valley. Once on the green, beware of the deep swale running front-to-back across the entire surface.
Hole 7...Par 5...590 yds.
Hit down the right center to avoid massive mounding to the left. Your second requires a mid to long iron down the left to miss the huge bunker guarding the green. You’re left with a wedge to a deep green.
www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/209/948/ws_mv_hole16_yardage.jpg [/img]
Hole 8...Par 3...180 yds.
This short, demanding par 3 is guarded by an old tree. There is no room short or left of the green so favor the right side.

www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/556/724/bwr_bd_mv_hole17_lg.jpg [/img]
Hole 9...Par 4...395 yds.
This dramatic finishing hole features two greens – one for red tees and the other for the rest. Hit a fairway metal to the right center and a mid to long iron across the Sheboygan River to the huge double green.
www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/779/799/bwr_bd_mv_hole18_lg.jpg [/img]
Hole 10...Par 5...564 yds.
A good drive off the tee could put you on the green in two. A mid to long iron will leave you a short iron in. Check the hole location and favor the right side of this large, deep green to avoid the bunker and river on the left.
www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/293/754/ws_rc_hole01_yardage.jpg [/img]
Hole 11...Par 4...375 yds.
Accuracy is critical on this short par 4 with native grasses and mounding on either side of the fairway. A fairway metal or long iron off the tee will leave a mid- to short iron approach to a well-bunkered green that slopes left-to-right and front-to-back.

www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/155/346/golf_River_hole02_lg.jpg [/img]
Hole 12...Par 4...447 yds.
This long, difficult par 4 demands a driver. The ideal drive favors the right third of the fairway avoiding the huge bunker right. A safer drive on the left leaves a longer approach to the green. With an unobstructed view of the green, run it up or fly it back to the pin, mindful of the bunker on the right and native grasses to the left.

www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/604/204/ws_bd_rc_hole03_01.jpg [/img]
Hole 13...Par 3...195 yds.
Fluctuating winds are a challenge on this stunning medium-length par 3. Check the wind and play to the middle and left third of the green. The front third of the long green slopes right, the middle is quite undulating and the back third is a relatively flat plateau.

www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/700/157/ws_bd_rc_hole04_02.jpg [/img]
Hole 14...Par 4...342 yds.
A long iron or fairway metal directed toward the left edge of the clubhouse should produce a short iron approach. A hidden bunker will catch any shot falling short and left of the green while Swan Lake awaits a ball to the right.
www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/583/169/ws_rc_hole14_yardage.jpg [/img]
www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/572/563/ws_bd_rc_hole14_01.jpg [/img]
Hole 15...Par 4...372...yds.
Choose a fairway metal and aim between the large deep bunker on the left and fairway bunker on the right. A good tee shot should allow an approach of less than 150 yards to a protected green about 20 feet below the fairway. Watch for the bunker short and left and native grasses long.
www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/569/855/golf_River_hole15_lg.jpg [/img]
Hole 16...Par 5...602 yds.
Named for the Linden tree guarding the green, this par 5 demands a straight drive down the left edge of the fairway. Lay up right or short of the greenside Linden. This leaves a wedge into the large deep green that hangs on the edge of the river.
www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/841/556/ws_rc_hole16_yardage.jpg [/img]
www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/1018/713/ws_bd_rc_hole16_01.jpg [/img]
Hole 17...Par 3...172 yds.
A back left hole location can make this a difficult par. Club selection is a priority with the pond lurking short and left of the green. Shape the ball right to left, but don’t go long as there are grass bunkers hiding in the mounds.
www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/458/750/ws_rc_hole17_yardage.jpg [/img]
www.americanclubresort.com/MungoBlobs/217/789/ws_bd_rc_hole17_01.jpg [/img]
Hole 18...Par 4...445 yds.
On this tough, memorable finishing hole, give it all you’ve got down the right center to avoid the waste area stretching the entire left side. The approach is typically a mid to long iron but the open-front green accepts less than perfect long irons
