My view of Wiesy's current Slump

Hi ya folks....ahh shucks...the kid is in a slump....we all know it, and most important, Wiesy knows it....the one thing that keeps us all going is that we know and Wiesy KNOWS, that sooner or later, SOMETHING is going to click and then the WieMachine of WieNation will kick it up a gear

this slump is sort of like misplacing your Wallet....you try so so hard to find it, that sometimes it is in a very logical place....you hunt and hunt and even go looking in places that YOU KNOW is not there....well Wiesy is in this wallet hunting adventure....folks, the moment that Wiesy finds her "ONE GOOD ROUND" that all cylinders click is like finding the wallet...watch out....she will also start finding Keys, Remotes, important papers and other stuff that she thought she had lost

folks of WieNation, I know that all of you had to suffer through this TOUGH stretch of 2012....just as Wiesy had to suffer...but the bright side of things is that because Wiesy and WieNation has gone through this sufferings, when things start to go Wiesy's Way, the REWARDS and gratification will be that much sweeter and enjoyable

the Randell Mell article after her LPGA Championship cut shows that Wiesy is NOT giving up...she admits that improvements on some of her golf shots could have been better....and Wiesy continues to look at whatever positives she could see in her round....Wiesy CANNOT get too down on herself....as long as she still knows that she can do better...eventually this BETTER WILL HAPPEN.....Wiesy showed a TON of Class and STYLE to even do this interview....not too many players would have done so after a BAD round of golf

so I say...PERK up WieNation....the kid is young and stilll has TONS of Golf to play for our enjoyment....sort of like a Boxer getting HIT all over and over again...eventually the arms of the hitter gets tired...after that even the busted up boxer gets motivated that the hits NO LONGER HURT....now is PAYBACK TIME....right now Wiesy is taking a pounding, but her Spirit of improvement is still within her....the kid is NOT giving up and throwing in the towel....in fact, all of this pounding might be good....this could make the kid strive harder and focus more

as far as her golf game is concerned...I think that she needs MORE accuracy off the tee...I say, "sacrifice some yardage for more accuracy"....take a little notice of how Paula and Ai figure out that if you are in the fairway....good things happen....considering that Wiesy is "LONG" with her OTHER Clubs, she should be able to reach the green on her 2nd shots with better lofted clubs....anyway....just my opinion.....but this only works if Driving with the 3 wood is accurate....hmmmm....ahhh golf is a hard game to figure out...as far as her putting....all it takes is a few putts to go in and confidence builds up and momentum kicks in....the key is to put yourself in GOOD putting situations....and this can be achieved by being in the fairway so that your irons can attack the flag and thus give you GOOD putting situations

anyway folks...I just thought I would get in my daily TYPING exercise....today's result was dissapointing, but it is not the end of the world or the end of WieNation....we have hit a roadblock, but we still have gas in our tank to take the LONG way around this hazard....and our DRIVER WIESY is determined to get us to our destination....fasten your seatbelts folks...the kid is going to become a MAD DRIVER....should be fun and adventuresome.....ahhh the world of Wiesy golf is sure complex and confusing....never ever boring...."Expect the unexpected" is the motto of WieNation....I love it!!!!

anyway...all of you have a great weekend....put away the "wrist slashing knives and bottles of Poisen"....the kid will come through for herself and those of us in WieNation....I KNOW THIS...I am a Believer....the kid believes this will happen...and folks, IT WILL HAPPEN...I can feel it in my wie wee bones.....see ya and aloha

Your faith in such testing times is very touching Wiefan, and an example to us all. I would feel more comforted if I felt she knew what was going wrong and was addressing it. If it's just a technical problem with your ballstriking that can be fixed with good advice and hard work. When BOTH your long game and your putting is off that's more worrying.

Maybe she should get a second opinion - some times a fresh look can give new inspiration.

Wiesy is going to a familiar place, Stanford next week to receive her diploma. Maybe that will signify a closing of one chapter and opening of another. She will need to identify her golf "demon" and slay it soon. Or am afraid she may not recover.

Great post Wiefan, I also believe Michelle will fight her way back. I don’t think Michelle has any physical or emotional problems which are determinant for most slumps.

She has taken steps to address her confidence, working with the Vision 54 team.
Nilsson suggests that what's going on with Wie is fairly typical for players who become successful at a young age. "This can easily happen when you're a really good player as a child. Then you enter a period when you turn into a grownup and start to think about things more. It's usually just a phase, and one that many players go through -- Ai Miyazato is a good example -- but very few have to go through it with as many eyes on them as Michelle." Nilsson is convinced that Wie has all the tools needed to get out of her funk, as long as she can learn to identify her most important performance skills. "It's all connected," she says. "With Michelle it's the putting, but whether it's that or chipping or driving, it comes from the same place. You have to identify the thing that makes it all work and own that. And that's what we're here to help her do."

Former LPGA Tour player Jeehae Lee, Wie's longtime friend and new road manager, says Wie's spirits are still high despite her recent dismal results. "She remains positive and focuses on the things she can improve on. She's very resilient and she works hard when she goes back home."
