more pics on my blog: Caroline Masson Wins 2016 Manulife LPGA ClassicCaroline MassonIn the past, if Ariya Jutanugarn stumbled on the back 9 as she did at the 2016 Manulife LPGA Classic on Sunday I would have felt a whole lot worse about it than I do today. Sure, I wasn’t happy to see her find the foliage with her tee shot on 18, causing her to go back to the tee. That effectively ended any chance she had to win, needing a birdie to tie the lead. Instead, she bogeyed the hole (albeit with a very deft chip in) to fall from T2 to T5. But with 5 wins already in 2016, including a Major, I can let some of these letdowns go now. Besides, Ariya missed so many routine birdie putts today she really should not have won this one. Additionally, I like Caroline Masson. So seeing the 27-year old German win her first LPGA title was enjoyable. A 5-under 67 in the final round capped four straight rounds in the 60s for Caro, leaving her at 16-under. That would be good enough for a 1 shot victory over the trio of Karine Icher, Mi-Hyang Lee and Minjee Lee. Masson joins Brittany Lang in making the Manulife LPGA Classic their first tour win. Lang won the inaugural tournament in 2012. Caroline is also the 5th player to win their first career LPGA title in 2016, joining Hana Jang, Haru Nomura, Jenny Shin and Ariya Jutanugarn. Jang and Nomura have won twice this year. As previously stated, Jutanugarn has won 5 times. 1 CAROLINE MASSON (-16) T2 MI-HYANG LEE (-15) T2 MINJEE LEE (-15)
