Hello Wie Nation: Found this news to be exciting: LPGA Classic fills 1,200 volunteer openings in 30 hours By Mark Bryson The Manulife Financial LPGA Classic, which put out a call for volunteers on Monday of last week, needed only 30 hours to fill about 1,200 available positions. Residents still interested in volunteering for the $1.3-million tournament can put their names on a waiting list at www.manulifeclassic.ca, but there are no guarantees that additional positions will be created. It’s a clear sign that Waterloo Region residents are eager to support the June 20-24 event at the city-owned Grey Silo Golf Course, said tournament director Richard Kuypers. “I’m not surprised with the response, but I’m surprised it was that quick. I’ve never seen a timeframe like this before, which is great,” said Kuypers. “In my experience, and that’s all I have to go on, whenever the volunteer program is a big success and popular item, then it’s a good indicator of what’s to come.” Kuypers most recently served as assistant tournament director for the CN Canadian Women’s Open, the only other Canadian event on the LPGA schedule. He was also assistant tournament director for the PGA Tour’s RBC Canadian Open and also ran Golf Canada’s various amateur championships. got to love the lpga got to love wie golf bobawiefan
