Earlier today, members of the victorious 2015 U.S. Solheim Cup Team completed their victory tour with a trip to Washington, D.C. and an audience with President Obama.
The team made a few quick stops around D.C. before heading to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. With the Solheim Cup in tow, the Team toured the White House before setteling down in the East Room.
The President arrived and first spoke about how proud he was of the Team USA and their courageous comeback. He then stated that he needed help with his game and asked who would be the best to give him advice on sand saves. The President also joked that in about 6 months he'd have plenty of time to work on his game. The Team then presented the President with a Team USA rain jacket.
The celebration ended with Team USA posing for an Instagram Boomerang with the President - his first ever! (see below)
There are lots of benefits of winning the Solheim Cup, and we're sure that if you ask any Team USA member, the White House visit with the Commander In Chief tops the list. www.lpga.com/news/2016-team-usa-meets-presidentTeam USA Takes Trip to Nation's Capital and Meets the President A stop at the Lincoln Memorial, a tour of the White House and a meeting with the President - not bad for a trip to the nation’s capital. Monday, the victorious 2015 U.S. Solheim Cup team, along with captain Juli Inkster and assistant captain Pat Hurst, made the trip to Washington D.C. to be recognized for their accomplishments last September in defeating the European Team and winning back the Cup after back-to-back losses. The team sported matching red, white and blue sneakers for their Oval Office meeting with President Obama and presented him with a personalized USA rain coat. President Obama said he needed help with his swing and asked who was best with sand saves, but admitted he'd have plenty of time in six months to work on that. Team USA shared some of their adventures on social media, including some fun with the White House’s resident pets, the view from the Green Room and a group salute with the Commander-in-Chief.
