more pics on my blog: Chie Arimura Honored At 2011 Japan Sports Awards; Hosts Junior Clinic Fairways and ForehandsChie Arimura won her first Japan Sports Award for Female Japanese Golfer. I must admit that as a fan of Chie’s I am both happy and sad. Happy, because I am a fan and love to see her play appreciated. Sad, because I am a fan and wish she would come to play in America on the LPGA (besides a few targeted events here and there). But considering what a big star she is in Japan and the money and events on the JLPGA tour, there is no compelling reason for her to leave. There is some talk that she is interested in playing the LPGA, but until she goes to Q-school or wins an LPGA event (she came very close in 2011 at the HSBC Women’s Champions event) it’s just talk. On the men’s side, Ryo Ishikawa won the men’s award for the 3rd time. Chie’s also participated in a junior golf clinic, also attended by Miho Koga, Ritsuko Ryu, Yuki Sakurai and Asako Fujimoto. There was an auction as well afterwards, benefitting earthquake and tsunami relief.
