Aloha everyone....whew,,,what an exciting day...today was the Pro-am...I met up with good ol' Cougar before Wiesy's 8:30 tee time
first of all...lemme tell you about Cougar...what a super Generous fella...he hooked me up with TWO Parking Passes and tickets for Myself, Mrs. Wiefan, my Niece's Husband and my Brother-in law....my brother-in-law is coming with me tomorrow for his very FIRST Golf Tournament...he is very excited...I will make sure that he DOES NOT Pick up ANY GOLF BALL in his area...gulp....anyway....Cougar also gave me a SUPER WieNation type of gift...a Michelle Wie AUTOGRAPHED Canadian Open Flag...it was addressed "To Wiefan...signed Michelle Wie...and it was NOT one of her Usual "Chicken Scratch FAST M. Wie"...it was one of those FULL LEGIBLY TIME-CONSUMING Thoughtful consideration type of Autograph....whew...I am STOKED...way to go Cougar!!!
ok...about Wiesy's Play...she was playing SUPER OUTSTANDING GOLF...she was really friendly to her playing partners and you could tell that everyone was having a great time...by the way...when I say that Wiesy was playing great golf, her team was leading the Pro-Am with a 14 under par score....on the vast majority of the holes, they used Wiesy's ACCURATE Drives and terrifficly CLOSE 2nd shots to the green....she was within 8 feet of the flag on COUNTLESS HOLES...a lot of the times it was so close that her playing partners sank in the putt before Wiesy even had a chance to putt...Wiesy was sizzling hot in her drives and approach....the wind in the morning was relatively calm in the morning and picked up in the afternoon....Cougar walked with me for Wiesy's first five holes...Wiesy's Pro-Am team BIRDIED the first SIX HOLES....I could hardly contain myself at Wiesy's terrific playing, but good ol' non-exciteable Cougar was there to keep me contained
despite of Wiesy's team leading the Pro-Am at 14 under....they will probably NOT receive the prizes awarded to the first place....here is what happened...on the front nine....Wiesy had 4 older gentlemen as playing partners...on the back nine, the four playing partners BECAME YOUNGER....YIKES!!!!...actually there were FOUR New players as the older guys only played 9 holes....but it didn't matter to Wiesy's Game....she was still nailing the pins on the back nine
here is something about Mika Miyazato for her fans....she was in the group in front of Wiesy so I actually got to see a TON of her....she gotta be one of the most courteous and involved Pro-Am Professionals...she had a great time with her group...she would line them up...give putting tips...laugh and cheer for her group....she was super GOLF INTERACTIVE with her playing partners....Wiesy on the other hand was mostly Chit-chatting ALL DAY LONG with her playing partners about "Heaven Knows what...but probably not golf related"....I am positive that BOTH groups really enjoyed the Pro-Am...Cougar and I both concluded that Wiesy's Group was probably "BIG SHOTS "of the tournament sponsors...perhaps that is why she had a change of groups after nine....just my guess
about the course itself....excellent conditions....let me tell you about the 17th hole....now this is my 5th or 6th or 7th or 8th time following Wiesy at KoOlina...she ALWAYS Plays the 17th hole the same way...she CUTS the dogleg right hole everytime I have seen her...in the past years the rough was kinda thick, but she would cut the corner anyway...today she hit a BOOMER of drive...she cut the corner Perfectly and her ball rested right in the center of the fairway and right in front of the green ....she must have been about 60 or 70 yards in front of the earlier groups....what a shot
here's what topped of the day....Wiesy sank about a 30 footer for birdie to close up the day to go 14 under....Paula's and Cella Choi's team were 2nd at 12 under....even good ol'Cougar said that was a GREAT PUTT
anyway...I was so so darn excited that I figured I would Celebrate...after leaving Cougar and the Course...I went to Sam's Club for lunch and a COKE ICEE FLOAT...I was in Hog Heaven...and still am as I am typing this LONG NOVEL...whew
anyway tomorrow's report will be shorter and less golf related as Wiesy should be in the TV Telecast
by the way...I am going to copy and paste this post to both mylpga and michellewiefanscentral website....my fingers need a rest for tomorrow....I really hope that Wiesy can keep up her terrific MOJO....personally, I do not see why not....anyway....Aloha everyone and have a nice evening....go wiesy go...see ya
