MICHELLE WIE, Rolex Rankings No. 40

Q. So just walk us through your round today. How did it go out there?
MICHELLE WIE: It was one of the most frustrating rounds for me. I hit a lot of missed shots today. Just the long game, didn't feel comfortable for me out there, and I hit every putt really good and every putt looked like they were going to go in which didn't go in. It was a very frustrating round overall. But at the same time I still had a lot of fun playing today and it was a great U. S. Open experience, and I'm really looking forward to the next tournament.

Q. Tell us about the experience this week. What's it been like here with the crowds in Wisconsin?
MICHELLE WIE: It's been great, a really great overall experience in Kohler. The fans were awesome, just very respectful and very cheering us on. It felt really good. I can't wait -- I hope there's another opportunity for us to come back here because I would really love it.

Q. Such a big deficit for everybody to overcome. Is it easy to get out there and press too much and cause you to hit bad shots?
MICHELLE WIE: I just didn't feel comfortable today with my long game. On this golf course it's tough. You have to hit good shots in there, which I didn't today. You know, it just makes for a very long round.

Q. What will you take out of this tournament with you? Do you just kind of eliminate the bad and remember what went so well for you in the record-setting round you had for the one day? Or do you just kind of take all of it and try to learn from it?
MICHELLE WIE: I'm going to take all of it and learn from it. Obviously there was a lot of positives this week that I will take on. There are some things I need to work on, but at the same time this week was a definite confidence-booster for me. Being in contention again, it didn't work out for me today but just being up there? Contention for me kind of got my juices flowing and kind of made me want it more and felt like what it was like again. So I'm really looking forward to the next tournament and there's a lot of positives to take from this week and a lot of things I'm definitely going to learn from.

Q. Where are you headed next?
MICHELLE WIE: Evian is my next tournament. I'll have a nice two-week break. I think I'm going to need a little break after this week.

Q. The way the course has been playing, is it that much more impressive the way Choi has been able to keep it going?
MICHELLE WIE: Exactly, yeah. Like I said yesterday, her 65 was amazing. My course record lasted a whole 24 hours.
So you know, she's doing really well and I'm rooting for her

As Annika said she should take some positives away from this week - she's shown that she can blow everyone away when everything comes together. Must be tough for her after such a great start. Only person I have more sympathy for is Wiefan who predicted she'd win with - 13 !

Hi ya David48...ahh shucks...NO sympathy for me is needed....all in all...it was a pretty decent tournament for Wiesy...especially when you consider the STRUGGLES she was encountering in events leading up to the US OPEN....not too many people even figured she would even make the cut....well, the kid SURPRISED everyone by being in 2nd place after the cutline day....when talking about her play in Round 3 and 4....I look at it as EVERYONE was struggling except for NYC and Amy....a lot of the TOP Name and Ranked players DIDN'T do better than Wiesy...so in this instance, Wiesy pretty much held her own with the top Rolex players

also...Wiesy led this tournament in Driving Distance...so this tells me that she can still SMACK the golfball a long way when she needs to

a better sign of things to come is her PUTTING...Wiesy had ONLY THREE 3-putt greens all week....and this is coming on a course where EVERYONE had to make quite a few LONG PUTTS just to save par...so folks...I happen to like Wiesy's Putting this week...I think that Wiesy made MORE than her share of LONG Par-saving and Bogey-saving Putts....this tells me that Wiesy is a very decent putter when she concentrates

also....Wiesy won over $18K this week....this helps her in the process of retaining her LPGA card for next year....I am sure that Wiesy will GAIN a few slots in her Rolex Ranking

Folks....here is what I predict after watching Wiesy play this past week....Wiesy WILL NOT miss any more cuts this year...and she will Contend on a Sunday a few more times before 2012 is concluded....folks, the pieces in the Wiesy Golf Puzzle is going to start to fall into place...you can already see the signs that her Game in picking up....in the area of Fairways, GIRs and Putting....you can see her playing well in EACH of these categories....the key for Wiesy is to have all of these areas come together in a single round....just like it did in Round TWO....we know she can excel in each of these areas...but Wiesy needs for these areas to come together in a single round

anyway folks...I am still VERY high in Wiesy's golf Game...I like her MENTAL approach....I like the good shots that she makes....I like her putting improvements...heck folks...I am PROUD to be a believer in Wiesy's golf game

anyway...all of you have a great week...looking at the overall picture...I would have to say that I am VERY SATISFIED with Wiesy's play this past week....yeah sure, it could have been BETTER...but for darn sure, it could have been WORSE....just like a lot of people thought would happen....but the kid FOOLED the naysayers and made WieNation Proud and excited...you can't ask for too much more...Wiesy didn't quit on any of us...she played as hard as she could....she GRINDED and GRINDED....this alone makes me proud to be a member of WieNation...way to go Wiesy

I agree with you Wiefan. It is far better to look at the positive side of Michelle's golf rather than the depressing downward look that Davidy seems to have with his constant stating of missing cuts and bottom of the field results.

I think he was further off with his...barely make the cut... (hum....second place after two rounds and 10 striokes better than the cut line) and...she will tie for last with several others... (hum....last +25 compared to +10) and although she didn't finish beyond middle, she certainly exceded Davidy's expectation.

I'm very glad she exceeded my expectations - my apologies for occasionally injecting a dose of reality from time to time. If Michelle had kept to her putting average for this year in the 2nd round instead of her sublime 23 putts I would have been right on the money. Of course, if if if... you never can tell in golf.
I always forecast pessimistically - then if it comes out better you have something to celebrate !

I have no idea where she goes from here - next up is the Evian, where she has played well and contended in the past, so she must feel comfortable there. However unpredictability is part of her charm !

Just seems rather sad to have someone state that they look for the bad rather than the good in the hopes of being found wrong. I would rather look for the best and be extremely elated that my hopes were well-founded and not worry if those hopes don't come true at this moment as there is usually another chance down the road.
