Another disappointing weekend for Michelle golf! I noticed though that Kerr and Tseng also missed the cut. I can see these three bouncing back at the US Open.

There are times when I'm happy to say told you so, but this isn't one of them. Michelle's putting stats tell me she's very short of confidence right now, hardly surprising in view of her results over the last few months. Someone pointed out that she's been in these depths before ( 2007) and came back. Interestingly her improvement coincided with her starting at Stanford. I know lots of her apologists say that Stanford was a distraction, and forecast that once she graduated her play would improve - I take the opposite view. I think Stanford was a welcome relief from the pressurised artificial bubble of professional sport, enabling her to get away and enjoy a normal life with friends and explore other interests. That has now gone - imagine, all she has after a bad round is to go back to her hotel room and analyse what she did wrong with her parents. Compared with her Stanford time that can only increase the pressure, especially when things are not going well. It's not often that I find myself feeling sympathy for millionaires but this is one time when I make an exception ! Now she fully realises what a career in professional sport really means, I think we're at a critical moment. If she can't turn this around over the next few months I think she's going to do some serious thinking about her future. All the reports we hear about her behaviour at tournaments suggest she rarely looks happy ( Solheim Cup apart ) and I wonder if her heart is really in it, or if she is still in dutiful parent-pleasing mode. I hate to say it, but it wouldn't surprise me if sometime next year we hear that she decided to do something completely different - she has the qualifications and the profile to enable her to do so. Whatever she decides, I'll be behind her 100%.

I don't know if you watch the telecasts, but there are plenty of times where she is enjoying playing especially when she's playing well, and happily interacting with her playing partners. When she's not playing well, she's pissed, which just shows how much she care. She is just getting started I don't see her giving up. She's not that type of person. Also, she took classes mostly during the off season so that didn't really interfere with her golf so your comment don't make sense. The reason people were waiting for her to finish, is because now she can just concentrate on golf as a career and make that full transition. Her game has been a struggle already starting last year, so it's has nothing to do with school. She has plenty of friends on tour who she hangs out with so not like she only had friends in school, plus I'm sure all her friends she was in school with is gone by now like her.

Birdies seems so hard for her to get right now, but glad she didn't score any higher than a bogey on any holes this week, small positive I know.

What is up with Kerr, she hasn't been playing well lately. Can't believe she hasn't won in a couple of years. Which shows winning is so hard. Also Yani has not played well the last couple of tournaments either. Is the pressure getting to her or is it because of an injury?

I agree about winning on tour is really hard, just imagine Paula Creamer, she has not won in 4 years I believe.

I disagree w/ wiesyfan about her looking happy during tourneys. Yes, sure, when she makes a birdie (or even just a par lately!), she appears to be pleased. And we do see her chit chatting with other players and seemingly enjoying it. But....when a golfer is struggling as she is....she's not just "pissed" as you say. She's dejected. Any "being pissed" is self directed and that has to make her unhappy. I can only hope she will rise out of this for the US Women's Open; however, that's not really the place to get a shaky game going. But...we'll see...and hope!
