Hello Wie Nation: I fared better than Michelle…I’m good for 500 hours of computer time, or 2 pints of ice cream; and I don’t buy ice cream by the pint…got home just in time to see Michelle lose her match…bummer… Let’s see what we have: Round one and tournament results: Par…………………............4 5 3 4 5 4 4 3 4 4 5 3 4 4 4 3 4 5 (20) WIE, Michelle …….5 5 3 4 4 3 5 3 4 4 5 3 4 4 4 3 (45) HARIGAE, Mina …4 4 4 3 5 4 5 2 4 4 4 3 4 4 3 3 …3 & 2 Michelle….16 holes…12 pars…2 birdies…2 bogeys Harigae….16 holes…09 pars…5 birdies…2 bogeys Par 3’s…4 pars…0 birdies…0 bogeys Par 4’s…9 pars…1 birdies…2 bogeys Par 5’s…2 pars…1 birdies…0 bogeys For 16 holes, Michelle played even par; and in match play, unless you’re lucky, even par will seldom make you a winner… In match play, you need your A game; and as for now, Michelle does not have her A game… A Neg….Pos…I won’t be using much computer time the rest of the week… Got to love wie golf bobawiefan

Indeed, even par on a wide open course set up for birdies won't get you very far - looking at scores from the other matches she wouldn't have beaten any of the other winners either.
We don't have any stats so don't know if it was her driving or putting which let her down - my guess a bit of both.
I wonder if leaving Stanford is actually having a negative effect on her. She really enjoyed the student life and all the friends she made there - and it was a wonderful distraction from the grind of professional golf. Now when things aren't going well all she has is her over-dominant parents and the hotel room to go back to. If, as I'm beginning to suspect, her heart really isn't in it and she's still only doing this out of filial obedience, this is not a recipe for happiness !
Let's hope she can turn things around soon.

I think Michelle was trying to psych herself that she is better (on paper -yes) and can beat Harigae easily, but her game right now will not support it - thus another loss.

Michelle's putting was slightly better, but still she missed makeable putts to win holes and continued to show frustration with the putting.
And...Mina threw 5 birdies at her.

Hello Wie Nation: Wow!…I can’t believe this…After 8 hours of sleep; and the paint hasn’t dried on Michelle’s sixteen hole, lose and go home performance, I am really excited, and I can hardly wait for Michelle’s next tournament, the “Shoprite Lpga Classic”… Many a time, I’ve gone out on a tree limb, and sawed off the wrong part of the tree limb. But, this time, I have the saw in the correct hand. Anyway: The rest of the story… Just maybe…Just maybe This may be what Doctor Mojo, The juice Doctor…Doctor of Enthusiasm…Doctor Awesome ordered, “2 hole in ones”… Never had 2 hole in ones in one round before! that was awesome!! Michelle Wieþ@themichellewie Back in FL for a week. Cant wait to get out and get some good practice in. I can feel it coming, I really can! In all the time, I’ve been following Michelle on tweeter, never, never have I seen Michelle so excited to (Cant wait to get out and get some good practice in.) practice, especially “putting”.. Away back when…When she tried to qualify for the men’s U S Open, Michelle said that she hated to practice putting because it was so boring… Just maybe…Just maybe…This has all changed… Just maybe…Just maybe…In a short while, Michelle will tweet… “I had a good practice, ‘putting’ today”…. This was from today's NJ paper, The Record:
Sybase Championship notes: Aces wild for Michelle Wie Saturday, May 19, 2012
Michelle Wie had a rough Thursday at the Sybase Championship, getting knocked out in the first round by Mina Harigae. Her Friday was much, much better.
Playing in a Pro-Am on Hamilton Farm’s Hickory Course, Wie made two holes-in-one in her first nine holes.
"Playing in the pro-am [Friday] and I had 2 hole in ones!!!!!" said Wie, on her Twitter account. "So crazy....granted we are playing a par-3 course. … Never had 2 hole in ones in one round before! that was awesome!!"
The 18-hole Hickory course features only par-3s. But it’s by no means easy; it’s the only USGA-rated, par-3 course in the country, and many of the holes are long and challenging.
Case in point: The two holes Wie aced weren’t exactly a picnic. She made one at the 174-yard fourth and the 171-yard eighth.
Jimin Kang of South Korea also made a hole-in-one on the 206-yard first hole.
All 32 players eliminated on the first day of match play are required to participate in the pro-am Friday.
