BRITTANY LINCICOME CAPS OFF PGA TOUR EXPERIENCE WITH 1-UNDER 71
July 21, 2018 LPGA News NICHOLASVILLE, KY - Due to inclement weather on Friday at the Barbasol Championship Brittany Lincicome had to wait until the weekend to play her second round. Lincicome, along with playing partners Sam Ryder and Conrad Shindler went off the first hole at 7:52 am ET. Large crowds followed the two-time major champion's every swing as she navigated Keene Trace Golf Club. "The fans were incredible." Lincicome said Saturday. "It was so great feeding off their energy. They were cheering for me every time I hit a shot, every time I got it in the fairway, got it on the green. They were really behind me and I could really feel that out there. It made me feel way more comfortable." Lincicome carded a 1-under, 71 to wrap up a special week as only the sixth woman ever to play in a PGA Tour event. She stumbled early with bogeys on the par 4, 4th and par 3, 5th holes but showed tremendous resiliency with birdies on the next three holes. The group even chatted about potential records Lincicome may have been setting. With a 5 over par, two-day total of 149 Lincicome would miss the cut at the 2018 Barbasol Championship. However, when asked if she would participate in the event again Lincicome left the door open. "Never say never. Obviously this was an awesome experience, and I can't thank Tom and Barbasol enough for giving me this opportunity. I just feel super blessed." Lincicome was able to learn more about her game this week as she prepares for the LPGA's fourth major of the season, the Ricoh Women's British Open. "I think just more learning how to calm my nerves and learning about myself." Lincicome said Saturday. "With a major coming up, hopefully that first tee shot I won't be as nervous. I've learned to kind of play through the nerves this week, which is great. Just in the future I think that'll really help me."
